ITINERARY: After collection from your hotel we will travel first to the town of Ayr and on to the birthplace of Robert Burns in Alloway. Here we will visit the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum; Alloway Kirk and Brig o’ Doon, the church and bridge that inspired Burns’ epic poem Tam o' Shanter; and the cottage he called his childhood home. Immerse yourself in songs, poems, politics and the loves of the ‘ploughboy’ poet, who has left a Scottish legacy as famed as whisky the world over.

Coffee or lunch can be organised overlooking the Brig o’ Doon before the short journey to Culzean Castle; alternatively, lunch may taken at Culzean Castle.

We will travel the short distance to Culzean Castle visiting one of the small harbour villages along the way while soaking in the breathtaking coastal view of the Isle of Arran. Culzean Castle, surrounded by its extensive gardens and estate occupies a dramatic cliff top setting. The location was the perfect scene for Scotland’s greatest 18th-century architect, Robert Adam, to create one of the finest country houses for the 10th Earl of Cassillis.

On leaving Culzean Castle, stops will be arranged on route for photos and refreshments. The return journey will allow a route through Maybole and Kirkoswald and views of the world famous Turnberry Hotel and its Open Golf Course.

OVERNIGHT STOPS & ACCOMMODATION: Why not extend your tour and include an overnight stay to allow a relaxing journey through the farmland, coastline hills and moorland of Dumfries and Galloway? This will include journeying through the Galloway Forest Park and the historic Doon Valley. Visit Dumfries and the Burns Mausoleum as well as his house, now a museum, where he spent the last three years of his brilliant life. Learn more of his politics, opinions and loves as we travel along the same countryside that he viewed.
