At Select Scotland Tours, we are committed to providing inclusive experiences for all our visitors to Scotland. As members of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association we are committed to following the European Network for Accessible Tourism (ENAT) Code of Conduct

In order to assist us in providing all our clients with the best possible experience whilst on tour in Scotland we are happy to work with you to ensure our tours are as accessible as possible. This is most effectively done during the initial planning stage, when we would request that clients advise us of any specific mobility requirements, or other issues, that may impact on their ability to participate in the tour. This will allow us to work together to plan the most suitable itinerary and make any necessary arrangements. 

It is assumed that all clients will be able to negotiate and traverse paved/cobbled streets and visitor attractions, as well as being able to enter and exit vehicles by themselves, or with the assistance from another member of their party.

Driver Guided Tours

At present, we operate all our driver-guided tours and services in either a Mercedes V Class people carrier or a Land Rover Discovery Sport. Each vehicle is equipped with a basic first aid box and safety information will be provided by our driver-guide. 

The Mercedes vehicles have sliding doors to enable easy access. The vehicles are not wheelchair accessible, but we can transport a folding wheelchair or other mobility aids in the luggage compartment. We request that you notify us in advance if you will have a wheelchair to allow us to ensure there is adequate storage space available.

Unfortunately, our guides are unable to assist customers getting in and out of the vehicle. We would ask that you be physically able and comfortable to do this yourself, or with the assistance from another member of your group.

Our Mercedes vehicles are fitted with a driver microphone system to allow the commentary to be heard throughout the vehicle if required. Again, please inform us in advance if any of your party has specific auditory requirements and we will try to assist. All vehicles feature large windows, reclining seats and air conditioning for the comfort of all passengers.

Walking Tours

If any member of your party will require assistance whilst on a walking tour, we request that this is provided by a member of your group. This would include the need to push non-motorised wheelchairs, providing mobility support, using sign language or aiding visually impaired clients.

For clients who are visually impaired we will ensure that our guiding commentary is fully descriptive to meet the needs of all members of the group.

Guide dogs are welcome on all the tours. 

Visitor Attractions

Due to the historic nature and condition of some of our visitor attractions and sites, it is not always possible for them to fully accommodate guests with mobility or other issues. For that reason, it is essential that we are made aware of any potential mobility issues during the planning stage to allow us to advise on appropriate sites and best design your visit. 

We maintain an extensive list of accessibility constraints for all the locations we visit on a regular basis, which we can share with you during the planning stage of your tour if required. 


We do not book accommodation directly, but again we can work with you in recommending accommodation that may be suitable for your party.
