Leaving from either Glasgow or Edinburgh we will drive westwards, cross the Highland Boundary Fault and head into Argyll. You can choose to visit Auchentoshan or Glengoyne Distillery, spend time in Inveraray visiting the Duke of Argyll's castle or enjoy some of the glorious gardens of the west coast before an overnight stay in Tarbert.

Day 2 will begin with a ferry crossing to Islay, where our whisky odyssey truly begins. We will stay on Islay for a minimum of two nights but if you opt to spend three nights that allows time to visit the neighbouring island of Jura.

There are currently 9 active distilleries on Islay, also known as Whisky's Crown Jewels: Ardbeg, Ardnahoe, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila, Kilchoman, Lagavulin and Laphroaig. Choose to tour some of the distilleries, take in a special experience at your favourite, or simply pop-in for a tasting at others. 

Throughout your whisky experience you will of course be able to enjoy the scenery, history and culture of this vibrant island, with its spectacular views to Ireland, Mull, Jura, Kintyre and Arran. Islay is known as Queen of the Hebrides, chosen by the MacDonald Lords of the Isles as the centre of their Sea Kingdom. You can visit Finlaggan, the once mighty centre of the Lordship of the Isles.

Our final day will see us return to mainland Scotland by ferry and travel north to explore Kilmartin Glen, taking in a number of its ancient monuments including standing stones, burial cairns and neolithic rock art. A cultural gem older than Stonehenge, Kilmartin was named one of the New York Times' top places to visit in 2023.
